J.O.Y

It was that kind of day where you thought it will be the same as the other day but then it was not. Starting your day with the Lord keeps your day into perspective.

As you open your eyes in the morning, say thank you Lord Jesus for this new day - be in control, help us Lord in every decisions, help us to be a blessing to others, putting God first! These keeps the JOY in our lives. Knowing that we are here to glorify our God, our creator, not just to get through the day, but understanding that we have a purpose.

I remember the acronym J.O.Y. where J is Jesus first, do you have Jesus in you heart? He is knocking in the door of you heart, If you believe and receive him into your heart, you will be saved. What does it mean to be saved? It means that when our life here on earth is done, we have the assurance that we are going to meet Jesus in heaven. I remember one classmate of mine in high school who asked me if I believe in God and I said yes, it is better to believe in Him, knowing that after our life here on earth is done there is that  promise of salvation. Than not believing and there is nothing after.

O is for Others next, consider others, especially people in your family, better than yourself. These kind of statement now are not common. 'Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.' (Philippians 2:3-4) I know that it is not easy, there was this game called Mexican Train (Dominoes) and the goal is to play all the tiles from your hand onto one or more chains or trains, and I remember there was this time when I was playing, I can lay a tile to help others or just keep it and play another tile. If I just want to win for myself helping others seems to be a hard choice.

Y - yourself last, the game continues and with that in my mind, I was just thinking of helping others. One of the players is new to the game and he was just pairing the tiles not creating a train of tiles, so I decided to help and his tile was kind of a complete chain. The round ended and he get to win that round. I was just full of joy. It is true that if we put ourselves in a way that we give way for others we have that true joy.

I hope for you to find that joy in your life.

  1. Having JOY really starts with Jesus. Serving others before yourself is definitely next. Thanks!
